In Pursuit of Curb Appeal

About Me

In Pursuit of Curb Appeal

Most people spend their time dreaming up ways to improve the insides of their home. They renovate their kitchens, install new flooring, and paint the walls in vibrant colors. As far as I am concerned, however, the outside of the home is just as vital. After working for years as a landscape architect, I'm passionate about the form and function of yards, porches, decks, gardens, and other outdoor spaces. An inviting exterior welcomes guests to my home and encourages them to enjoy themselves. I decided to create a blog that would extol the virtues of curb appeal—and maybe inspire you to take your homemaking efforts outside.

Attention To Detail That Will Promote A Polished Appearance

If the dripping faucet that is short in stature and clunky in design is not only an annoyance but also unattractive and taking away from the overall appeal of your master bathroom, cleaning the sink until it is sparkling and tending to the grime that is on the floor may not help things as much as you hope. One way to give the restroom a polished appearance that will be complementary to other features in the room is by installing gold or metallic fixtures.

Some Parts Of The Plumbing May Need To Be Replaced

A loose, damaged, or missing washer could be contributing to the leaky faucet, but there may be some other plumbing issues present that need to be addressed. If there is any moisture inside of the cabinetry that the sink is encased in, having an overhaul completed will guarantee that each new fixture will operate properly. If renovations are going to be completed and you are hiring a contractor to perform the installation of the fixtures and other plumbing components, let them know about your wish to change the overall style of the room.

Gold or metallic fixtures include sleek elevated faucets and basic tap handles or ones that are a unique shape that contain etched grooves. The fixtures that are in the tub can be replaced to match the ones being used to upgrade the sink. Brushed brass or nickel are two popular material for sinks and tubs since they will each maintain their deep golden or metallic hue without any risk of corrosion. Choose one distinct style, color, and material for all of the fixtures.

Two Colors Can Be Used To Create A Pattern

Choose a color pattern that will tie in all of the features in the bathroom. Pay attention to details that could enhance the new plumbing and invest in new decor or features that will be fitting for the pattern that you choose.

For instance, gold and green are two complementary colors, and if you choose to go with fixtures that are a deep gold color and would like to accent parts of the room with an emerald green and some additional gold tones, purchase a new green bath mat set, towels, or artificial or real foliage that is contained inside of gold-colored pots. Even the mirror that is suspended above the sink can be used to highlight the new fixtures. Request a new gold frame for the mirror or have the original one painted to match the sink and tub fixtures.
